April 18th, New Zealand Day 3

These are photos I took on my 3rd day in New Zealand.

This is the sun breaking over the mountians surrounding Lake Ohau. 

This is more typical rolling topography on the South Island. 

This is the artificial lake, Lake Dunstan on the way to Cromwell, created by a hydroelectric dam. The reflection in it was incredible. On the other side was the Riddermark of "The Lord of the Rings". 

This is an orchard near Cromwell. 

This is a vinyard near the town of Cromwell which has become a significant area for wine production in New Zealand. 

These are grape vines covered to protect them from frost or possibly insects. 

This is an interesting mount formation I saw while the bus was approaching Queenstown. 

I believe that this is the riverbed of the Kawarau River which runs from Lake Wakatipu near Queenstown. 

This is the Kawarau Bridge where bungee jumping was invented and is still practiced. 

These are the famous Remarkables which formed the background fro the flight from Edoras in "The Two Towers". 

This is a statue of the founder of Queenstown and in true New Zealand fashion, he has his sheep by his side. 

These are the mountains in whose shadow Queenstown lies. 

These are mountains across Lake Wakatipu from Queenstown. 

This is a bluff above Lake Wakatipu on the way to Glenorchy. 

These are mountains near Glenorchy looking across Lake Wakatipu.

This is the ranch house in Glenorchy which belongs to the Dart Stables, the company with which I went riding. 

This is the cat at the ranch from which I went riding. 

This is 1 of 2 horses used as a horse of Rohan. 

This is the other horse that was used as a horse of Rohan. 

These are some llamas that were playing around in a paddock next to where we mounted our horses.
